Raleigh Anthony Suarez, Jr. was born in Plaquemine, Louisiana on January 2, 1925. He recieved his B.S., M.A., and Ph.D. from Louisiana State University. Employed by McNeese State University, he served as Associate Professor of History, Department Head, Dean of the School of Humanities (1962-1972), and Vice President for Academic Affairs.
